At one point in my life, I thought about emigrating to Australia, and then I learned about some of the things they had there, like the saipan. After living in Arizona for a few years I decided “maybe not”.
Since the majority religion of Belgium is Roman Catholicism, (per a search in Google,)the Meatless days are a holdover from the Church’s longstanding prohibition against eating meat on Fridays (also Wednesdays during Lent). They tried to make me a good Catholic ( and failed miserably), but my Grandmother was a truly devout Catholic refused to serve meat on the days that Church said it was a no-no, even after the Church loosened the restrictions in this area.
