I buy 12, or so, pairs of black socks at a time. → No sorting, no mismatches. I have a few other pairs that I wear occasionally. e.g. brown tones to match a Tilly shirt and shorts outfit. My son gave me a pair of dark blue ones with star constellations. I summer I don’t wear socks, just sandals.

Your election demonstrated the concept of first past the post elections. The popular vote was actually quite close. In Canada I have long hoped for, say, 10% of the members to be regional, selected via proportional representation. That would compensate for the weaknesses of “first past the post”.→ It is, of course, unlikely to happen in either Canada or USA.

Laying sewer lines is also interesting. Septic tank systems can be a problem. I heard some people resorted to above ground aerobic systems. They bubble air through a tank so a different type of bacteria digests the sewage.

A while ago a friend presented me with a large coloring sheet from a fast food place and asked me to color it. Not having used crayons since I was a kid, I did bit of research on techniques. It took me about a month, working a few minute each day, He was impressed with the results and had it laminated, so he could show it to a group of kids. Three main pointers: keep them sharp and learn how to blend colors, and do gradients.

In the Halifax, Nova Scotia area the water comes from rocks. They have to carefully monitor the amount of absorbed arsenic. Haven’t thought of that in a long time. Nova Scotia is pretty rocky in general. An essential ingredient for road building is lots of explosives.

I learned recently how cows get protein from eating cellulose (grass). They have multiple stomachs. The first stomach has bacteria to digest the cellulose. Farther along they digest a lot of the bacteria that are carried along with the sugars (digested cellulose).

I think it was from ‘The Land That Time Forgot’ that I remember the quote ‘Red or white wine with diplodocus?’ Same rule for dragon?
