The rarely used “Scramble” system is the best for pedestrians. All cars get stop lights and all pedestrians can cross, including diagonally. They had that in Fredericton, NB when I was growing up. I heard that years later, when they had to update the system, and they got the regular type, pedestrians were outraged and forced the city to fix it.
This is related to the idea that young people believe nothing that happened before they were born matters to them. The snag is that Almost EVERYTHIG happened before they were born.
