Now that’s a phrase I never thought I’d see. I had a Grandma Van Pelt, my mom’s mother, and she was a mean, unhappy, cantankerous old woman. None of my siblings or cousins ever said, “Yay, Grandma Van Pelt”. It was more like, “Please don’t make us stay with Grandma Van Pelt”.
I remember one of my 7th grade students saying, “I hate winter. My parents let me play outside until the street lights come on. In the summer, that’s 9:00, but in the winter, it’s 5:30.” Such is life.
