The KJV TRANSLATORS (not “writers”) minimized paraphrasing almost to a fault for fear of losing their heads if the king thought the resulting translation was polemic and favoring the “wrong” denomination. My point is, these men did the best they could with what they had for source texts. They should not be criticized or faulted.

The KJV was not “written”; it was TRANSLATED INTO ENGLISH. The WRITER of that passage was St Paul.

There are several Greek words that can be translated INTO English as “love”; to wit, philos, or brotherly love; eros, or romantic love; and agape, or love of God and neighbor. The Greek passage quoted above has “agape”, which, in the view of the KJV translators, as well as St Jerome, who translated the Latin Vulgate (his rendering is “caritas”), is best translated INTO ENGLISH as “charity”.

Greek has vowels; you’re probably thinking of biblical Hebrew, which was transcribed without vowels.

No, Janis, the whole 4 panels make zero sense, especially the last where Arlo breaks into a smile (after pi$$ing and moaning in the first 3) and declares college football a “Thanksgiving tradition”.
