I remember the floods too. Also the nationwide coal strike which led to spring break being three weeks long, and then we had to make up for it when we got back! Staffers won an “ICICLE” award if they went above and beyond to come into work through the icy blasts. I may have to resort to the bucket of hot water routine. Water heater can’t be repaired until spring. Fortunately the furnace works. Foxy is high on catnip and rolling.

I’ve got to get my crockpot going and make ayurvedic chili. (Split Pea Soup in The Traditional Healers’ Handbook – it comes out like chili, so Sean Bell started calling it that) I was out last night running errands and WTTS was warning about high winds and severe weather. Foxy started doing her Poor Starving Kitty routine at some ghastly hour this morning. I got her fed and went to the front door and it was just starting to snow and I got pictures. It’s still snowing. When the school bus let the kids off one little girl scooped snow off each of the four cars parked along our street (mine included) and made snowballs to throw at everyone.

Sourdough waffles are something I can actually have! Also there is King Arthur’s gluten-free flour.

[# GeezersOfBCN in my rocking chair] It was like that all over the Midwest. I still remember The Great Blizzard of ‘78 at IU-Bloomington. It had been pretty bad in ’76-’77, but ‘78 was the year classes were cancelled (for two days). IU officials were all "This school has never closed on account of weather and we’re not going to close now!" but Gov. Bowen ordered it declaring a snow emergency. Snowplows were clearing the streets and they’d be inundated again 15 minutes later.

I was kind of surprised it came out the way it did. She was certainly capable of writing it the way you said!

The senior resident at my old place also had a torn rotator cuff after falling on ice, after surgery and a lot of PT she is much better. Mega-Orb love and prayers are with you always.
