   I think you need to read the prophets more carefully on God’s grace and justice and not over-simplifications of the differences between the Hebrew and Greek Scriptures. Heck, you’ll find plenty of God’s grace in Torah as well. And you may need to define “generic Christian Old Testament.” The Protestant Old Testament is less than 500 years old, so most Christian Old Testaments through history have had a lot more books than those found in modern Protestant Bibles.

   Don’t even know where to begin on all the assumptions presented as fact here. The Hebrew & Christian Scriptures are not necessarily part of the same book at all. Ask a Jew if his/her Bible has a New Testament. Which set of Christian Scriptures? Old Testament is different in Orthodox, Catholic, Protestant, and Ethiopian Christian Bibles. Different New Testaments at different times in history (and still today for Nestorian, Coptic, Ethiopian, and Western Christians). God is God of grace from beginning to end of every version, and most Protestant versions of the Bible end with picture of a fearful God more at least as violent as can be found in the Hebrew Scriptures.

   Afraid I don’t know prisoner in disguise (unless you are referring to The Prisoner of Zenda or The Man in the Iron Mask). But a big fan of ‘Judy in Disguise’.

   Uh, actually the Christian Scriptures are just quoting from Leviticus 19:18. They didn’t ‘invent’ some new idea. Also quoted in Rabbinic stories as the summation of the Torah.

   Vera has been missing X (unknown number) days and no one but the newspaper syndicate noticed? (How about the receptionist at his lavish office?) No one, including the syndicate thought to call attention to the fact? No one looked at his appointment calendar for the last place he and Mysta went on the promotional tour? Lost: any sense of logical verisimilitude… If found please return to script writer.

   “The 10 Commandments are just the earliest among a number of rule sets…” Uh, not even close. There are codes thousands of years earlier. And one would also need to ask which ten since there are multiple versions of what was on them in the Bible itself.

   Stories in the Bible of someone arguing God down on one point or another. Which is behind this joke: God came down the mountain and told the people, “Good news, I got him down to ten! Bad news, the one against adultery is still there.”

   I suspect Miles already knows. Balancing himself on the rails shows he’s just having fun. Someone else needs an attitude adjustment.

   The story arc after this one. We really need to rescue Vera & Mysta first. Well, Mysta at least. You’d think Vera’s office staff might notice he didn’t show up for work and his appointment calendar shows he had a meeting with a crazed comic collector. (We can wrap that story up by Friday without breaking a sweat.)

    The right answer to the question, “Can I get you some water, Heather? A cup of coffee?” is a job interview for the Milford Star? No wonder the woman in panel 1 is confused.
