I love this comment! If it makes you feel any better, I work in IT, and deal with the same type of thing. Constant upgrades and patches for things the upgrades broke, learning new things only to have them be immediately made obsolete. IT is incredibly wasteful, both in terms of equipment, and brain power. At least in the real world, I don’t have to replace all of the outlets and light switches in the house because they’ve upgraded electricity.
I’m actually going to have to agree with Neighbor Bob. Baking macarons is a skill, as is knowledge of calculus. However, baking isn’t a member of the set of skills necessary to be a rocket scientist. To me, a skill set is a pre-defined list of skills required for a position or task.
Of course I counted – that’s how I knew. And I did count the apostrophe as a character. I just noticed that one was longer than the other and thought it was funny. Kind of like Gallagher’s “little” is bigger than “big”.
