    You call that trying. I am barely convinced with those 2 examples. And if he didn’t want to do these things, why did he? He could have just left his stuff in there. Hubbs is still his own man.Part of the comic is that he is an accountant but unhappy in his job. His goal is to be a football player. In a comic strip he can, he has a great arm and with a deus ex – machina a writer a creator can do a lot. But in real life it doesn’t work that way. What really bothers me about this arc is the stereotypical blame the wife/mother trope. It is so common within these situations I think someone needs to stand up for Ellie. What she did is still no warranty for him leaving like that. He didn’t exhaust other possibilities. I do hope the writer doesn’t change Ellie her persona.
