    A portion of the world (other than the US) did it for a while also. Not sure if all of them stopped doing it.

    The northern hemisphere will get more sun until about June (if I recall correctly) then start getting less daylight hours until about December. Then the southern hemisphere will start getting more sun

    Again, there are places so, if you had to go to a place you have never been, and the route you mapped out for yourself is not there, blocked or whatever, to where you had to go 3 miles out of your way, you think you could find your way there without stopping and looking at a map?

    If doesn’t frequent the place often, one might need to keep looking it up. Also, there is the occasional road construction, wrecks and other issues that sometimes makes the GPS better
