One more thing – my rule of thumb was to have at least 3/4" between the plate & bowl – makes it less likely that the ants can form a group “bridge” to get to the plate.

What I did for Silver served as an ant-proof elevated food dish…

I took some inexpensive / free (depending upon source) china / ceramic dishware: a 6" in. diameter bowl, 6"-8" diameter dessert plate, and something about the height & diameter of a coffee mug to use as a spacer – the height needs to be higher than the bowl is deep, and all items should ideally should have a slick glazed finish.

Glue the coffee mug sized spacer to either the bottom of the plate or bottom inside of the bowl – your choice, depends on what you’re using. If possible, leave a small air vent (keeps a trapped air bubble from forming, which makes it buoyant). What you want it a stack – bowl-spacer-plate; you put an inch or two of water in the bowl, and the food on the plate. (Being a flat plate, whisker fatigue is minimized.)

(I hope my attempt at description & construction makes sense…)

Take what comfort you can in knowing that you always did right by Shadow, and that he knew you would.

    Cute!

The idea of a radio serial of “Our IX Lives” is kinda intriguing – room for more characters and backstory, not to mention sound effects (which cats are proficient at…)! Tales of a young Snowball Taggart and his lost love, with the subsequent hardening of his heart, perhaps?

I agree, though, about it looking a bit “off”; seems to me that the front legs and body aren’t properly proportional to each other or the head…

And I love Georgia’s rendition of Elvis’ reply “Because..” in panel 5 – that says it all!
