I believe Calvin created a variant of Schrődinger’s box, with the radioactive atom replaced with a single Oreo. Hobbes has spent enough time in the box that he’s become inured to to the Oreo’s toxicity, thus opening the door for a wonderful cookie binge.
Do panels one and three show the cats trying to keep the roomba horde from turning the handle? Is OZ trying to open the door? Great to see Elvis, Lupin, & a puck in the same panel, though.
Our now departed tuxedo, Sox, loved to push down the levered handle to get into our bedroom—usually at 2 AM! Eventually I bought a device that mounted on the handle to discourage this. It worked fine—until the next hurricane. As the winds picked up, Sox hammered down on the handle, tore right past us, & ran into our bathroom. He then proceeded to make an ungodly howl, which I translated as “make it stop!” Miss him terribly.
