They did. Last year the Republican House passed H.R. 2, the Borders Security Act, over to the Senate where Chuck Schumer sat on it. Very little of this recent bill would have gone to actually securing the border as most of the funds would have been for administration and processing of illegal aliens. More, it would codified allowing up to 5,000 illegals into the country per day. That’s why it was voted down.

Bragg was seated while the NYC DA office had concluded its investigation of President Trump which decided not to prosecute. Bragg was fully briefed on the investigation and has the same information now as he did back in 2022. He could brought charges back then but chose to wait in order to hamper President Trump’s campaign. This is a clear case of election interference by the Democrats.
