Look up “Provocative Therapy”. Farrelly made a living displaying disdain/boredom for the people who needed that kind of feedback. He was very nice to people most of the time.
First Shannon says to Luann, “You don’t know how to write yet? I’m only six and I know how.” (rude, belittling behavior). Then Shannon says, “I need all this paper.” (most well behaved children would ask the owner of the paper if she might have some. She wouldn’t grab the entire supply of paper for herself without permission.) Then Shannon tells Bernice that Bernice is going to number all the pages for her. (well behaved children don’t tell adults what to do and try to make them into their personal slaves.) Shannon is in for some tough times in her life if she continues with her present attitude and behavior.
Bernice will have to complete medical school and become an M.D. before she can become a psychiatrist. Why should Bernice be supportive of this child when she is doing nothing to deserve support?
