Toni did save them $3000 when they bought the van so you’d think they’d at least have some to help pitch in, but it’s hard to say because we’re not sure exactly how long they’ve been gone and it’s possible all the car problems tore through that savings if they kept taking it to the mechanic before it died completely.
Maybe this’ll change Al’s mind about letting Bets stay in the guest house. “I’m glad you two had a good trip. Please don’t take my stepson traveling in a heap of expensive scrap metal again…”

Yeah, I meant Nancy. I must’ve gotten her name confused with some sitcom mom’s.

I have a feeling the eyelashes on Debbie’s eye mask make it seem depressing. They make her look like she has sad eyebrows as she’s going through her mental list when she might be more neutral about it, just bored about double-checking her routine. I think we all have our own stuff we’ve learned helps us sleep better; at the very least I’ve grown to appreciate anything I feel helps me rack out at night.

Bernice: “Our friend is being open and vulnerable with us. You know what she could use right now? An extensive list of why her personality sucks.”

This reminds me of a story I read where someone’s mom was raising some baby goats and she taught them to pee in a litter box by giving them a treat afterwards. Except, they didn’t register the connection of the litter box to getting a treat, so every time they saw her, they just started peeing.

Aw; it’s still pretty sweet of Les to cover for Gunth like that. Les was truly a jerk (using the nicest term possible) to him in high school, and despite his shortcomings, he really has grown with everything. To saving Gunther’s butt, to standing up against his own mother, to taking care of Tiff, it’s clear he’s trying to be better, even if the process isn’t seamless. Maybe he just remembers hiding Punk when he was too embarrassed to admit he had grown attached. He’s grown into being a softy, whether he wants to admit it or not.

I was thinking the same thing. I remember when I broke my ankle, I was just exhausted for the first couple of weeks; even if I wasn’t upsetting the injury, I was just tired and slept a lot. Of course a fractured wrist isn’t gonna be as extreme, but Tiff probably is super worn out from her body trying to heal it while she’s still trying to go into work so I understand her trying to milk it a little X’D but it’s like you said, she’s been through a lot so she’s earned a little pampering during her recovery. Maybe she’ll treat them and Ox to a TJ-cooked private dinner after she’s feeling better.
I wonder if Leslie’s lack of ambition comes from his mother? Or more specifically, a fear of BECOMING his mother.
While she makes it work, Ann Eiffel has always been driven by greed and deception above all else, and while we don’t know how Al made his living, and while he seems to be a lot more honest than Ann, he’s still shrouded in a bit of mystery. He doesn’t seem to be a bad guy now, but that’s no telling what his past was like.
Maybe Les thinks “being rotten is in my genes, so if I don’t excel, I’m protecting people from the me that I would become.”
At the very least, Leslie’s trying to be better than when he was in high school.
