Of course you can make ham gravy—RedEye Gravy, which is thickened with a bit of strong coffee and then used to smother homemade biscuits…drool.

OK, I have just finished reading every comment. And making a couple myself. Now it’s time for…..Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Peaceful Kwanzaa, or whatever else the Delightful Members of the Orb celebrate. It’s been a tough few years, but with the aid of our furbabies, we will overcome, and promote peace and good will in 2025! Thank you all for continuing to educate me, and for providing some very merry reading all year. Jeannie & Cheeto, the Avatar.

Is there a Wild Birds Unlimited store in your area? What you want is balls made from Bark Butter. This is a special formula that comes in a spreadable form—just smear it on a tree branch with a fork—or pellets, or balls. Never met a bird that didn’t love this stuff!

Is there, by any chance a store called Wild Birds Unlimited in your town? They are great, and all the employees are very knowledgeable. The sell food, feeders, bird books, bird baths, and many other wonderful things! If there is not, then try the Cornell Lab of Ornithology online; look for “feeding birds”. Perhaps call a local Audubon Society member, who will direct you to sources. The comment above by GSD Mom is very good. Water is the one thing that all birds need, and a bird bath is a magnet for them. And last, check online for Used Books How to Feed Birds, for example. Thrift Books and ABE books are both reliable and affordable. Have fun, and prepare for a lifetime of enchantment watching the birdies.

It’s Mighty Mouse! or Mighty Princess…
I’ve always been a magnet for homeless kitties. I think there is a small sign in the yard saying “Crazy Cat Lady lives here. Inquire within.”
