Apparently we have different definitions of “not many.” I have a copy of The Biology of Spiders on my bookshelf, believe me, I’ve done my homework on spiders. Of the tens of thousands of species of spiders out there, only a handful can really make your life miserable (barring an allergy, in which case most of them can). I don’t consider a handful out of tens of thousands to be many.
Ticks are blood-sucking, disease-carrying parasites. That makes them pretty inherently gross, imho. Spiders eat insects, including some that spread disease and destroy crops. I really don’t understand why people find them scary. I get being afraid of the dangerous ones, but not many of them are.
The number of bites from a breed should be weighed against the number of that breed out there. Pitties are extremely popular, and most of them are perfectly good dogs.
This is still one of my favorite images of Lupin.
