That is not what I would want, the jury system may need to be reformed that 1 person does not have the power over 11 other jurists. Possibly it should be that if 75% vote guilty it should count, ie it would need 3 Not-guilty or more to be found innocent.
Unfortunately this is too close to the truth. In Queensland Australia the ex-premier Joh Bjelke-Petersen (National Party) was on trial for Perjury and Corruption. 11 members of the jury found him guilty, 1 not guilty. As it was not unanimous he was allowed to go free. Afterwards the Jury member (also the foreman) was found out to be a member of the “Young Nationals” as well as identified with the “Friends of Joh” movement. Joh was 80yo and the Prosecuter thought he was too old to retry.
