Agreed – there are pipes from many parts of the UK that are pleasant to listen to, lacking the abrasive qualities of their Scottish counterparts. (If you haven’t already heard of her, I recommend Katherine Tickell, but there are many others)
Some say that playing the bagpipes is what makes a military retreat. It certainly has that effect on me.
