Well, I’m sure that “passing, superficial knowledge of a wide array of topics” comes in handy on countless occasions. Sounds like you have what it takes to be a great conversationist. Thanks again for being a loyal Bozo follower!

Remind me of when my late Dad, Foxo Reardon, a cartoonist with the Richmond (Virginia) Times Dispatch, drew a weekly half page cartoon called “Old Dominion Oddities.” One particular cartoon described an actual event where the odds of its happening were astronomical. Dad had no idea the odds, so he just made up a number, such as “one in 7,875,492,” and that was published with the cartoon. As a result he received a letter in the mail from a scientist who had figured out the actual odds. Dad was astounded because there was not a big difference between his number and that of his correspondent. (And thanks for being a follower of Dad’s comic “Bozo” on GoComics.)

Your #1 comment, Gent, reminds me of a particular day when I and about 25 other employees were lined up at a time-machine at the end of our work day. Normally we would put in our ID card in a slot at the top of the machine and press down, and there would be a “CLICK” letting us know we were successful. However, no one in line could get that “click.” So I walked up to the machine and using my fist banged down hard on the top of the machine. I then placed in my card and got the familiar click. There was a joyful laugh from everyone, and they all followed and got their click. (As usual, Gent, a million thanks for your kind words. No one says it better!!)

It’s more likely the old man would be looking for a coin he dropped rather than than looking for a ring be dropped.
