Are you the one who suggested the strip should be renamed "CAULFIELD”?

I’m not clear on the size of his bathtub or the number of his co-bathers. I was taught (soon after it happened) that the “discovery” that getting IN actually displaced the same amount of water going elsewhere. He wouldn’t have noticed the level rise in a public bath; but he saw that as a way to measure the volume of an oddly shaped object.

The back story was to determine the density of the King’s crown (pure gold or an alloy?) It’s weight was easy; but geometry was no help in determining its volume.

All that other stuff came later.

The affront is deliberately removing every flaw to make yourself “perfect” by “perfect” creations. Most of us are capable to have flaws without repeated scrutiny to remove the last flaw. Knitting should not include multiple rip-outs to correct minor mistakes.

I’d settle for our current generation of forecasters learning the distinction between “normal” and “average”.

Twenty-five years ago, I taught two semesters of electronics (analog & digital) in our high school. We visited Radio Shack a couple times a month to keep stocked. We could repair our Mr. Coffee with a single thermistor. Today, the supply catalogs sell in quantities that make repairs more costly than replacement … assuming a repair is possible.
