   I’m inclined to think that Piro was formerly in the Navy, not currently (and not necessarily with medical training). And Alan, 11 going on 12 isn’t “practically a teen” but closer to a teenager than the other children. Speaking Hindi isn’t farfetched. And the tuba playing could be game related. 12 toes, maybe there’s a polydactyl cat at home.
