Makes one feel old. I even remember his wife’s name was Peg. William Bendix created the role on radio and I enjoyed watching his TV version (1953-58), as well as seeing him on afternoon TV in films like “Guadalcanal Diary,” “Lifeboat” and as Babe Ruth.
The Blues Brothers (1980) is a musical action comedy film about a Chicago R&B band on “a mission from God” to prevent the foreclosure of a church orphanage. In one scene, Aretha Franklin (owner of a diner) tells them “Don’t you blaspheme in here” then breaks out in the song “Think.” Carrie Fisher (Star Wars Princess Leia) has a running cameo as a betrayed woman trying to kill one of the brothers. Great songs. Fun film.
