We bred Mini Doxies, for 22 years and whenever we had someone interested in being adopted by one of our pups. we gave them 2 different books on The Dachshunds……. one on the breed in general, and the other book was especially written about being owned by a Mini Dox. It seemed like it usually ran about 60/40…… 60% of those, that decided “A Doxie wasn’t for them, after all” and the remaining 40% of those that ’ couldn’t wait until the puppy they’d pre chosen …. would become old enough so they could take him/her to their forever home!" We had a 90 day return policy, if anyone wanted to bring a puppy back, because they simply couldn’t handle a young Doxie for a pet and in the 22 years, we offered that policy we never, once, had to accept one of our pups back.
We live life on the North Oregon Coast. so “water”, per se’ , is never a problem. There’s a somewhat very large “lake”.. just to the west of our front lawn (however, it is very salty?), and of course,,,,, the continuous “Oregon Frog Stranglers” rainfall….. that occurs on a semi regular basis. So, being owned by 3 “Newfies”, who only love three things in life….. their families, their food dish, and endless water to get wet in.. it doesn’t matter one iota, if it’s raining or not! YOU ARE going for that “begged for walk”, PERIOD!
Haven’t been down on the floor, in a very long time! We have at least two………..extended “grabbers” , in every room!
