It’s from 1996; the year is printed in between the 4th and 5th panels

Not sure if it’s really working, as it seems like occasional strips from a past rerun or even the original run are being burped up by whatever script or program does the distribution.

May be just another one-time fluke. This strip is the right one for this point in the storyline, but it is in color, which is how they were in the past runs, while the current daily run is in black & white. Would be real nice is GC picked up from the last color run from now on.

Because they’ll expect vegetarian alternatives will be made for them.

Libby’s, and just about all of the canned pumpkin in the US, uses the Dickinson pumpkin variety. It’s an oblong-shaped pumpkin with the sandy color of a butternut squash. You can probably make a jack’o’lantern out of it, but it’s not the traditional round orange type, and contrary to popular belief, you don’t want to make a pie out of those, LOL

The daily and Sunday strips must be on different distribution streams or cycles, which is why the Sunday strips (which were always in color) are still appearing normally, while the daily ones are broken.

They are so tall with skinny legs, so it’s their legs that get hit by the front of the car and the body goes through the windshield.

Before the jokes about Andy not making a “real” pumpkin pie, note that the iconic orange jack’o’lantern pumpkins are not the best for making pies, they are too tough and stringy. Butternut squash are actually the best for making “pumpkin” pie, and the variety of pumpkin that Libby’s uses for its canned pumpkin looks more like a butternut squash than a Halloween pumpkin. This is also the reason for “pumpkin pie spice”.

The other family members want more than just one pie, so they “forget” that Andy is making one and bring one from the store.
