I doubt the EU are paying for Russian gas in rubles.

The cameraman was Press. They were allowed to be there (might be to show they have “Press Freedom” 0_õ) I sincerely doubt that Putin’s goons were trying to attract sympathy for their handiwork of suppressing freedom of speech. This type of immediate action is meant for local consumption, to instil fear in the Russian people. If you suspect the woman & cameraman were staging it then it was aimed rather at terrorising the Russian people.

This video below not only includes the Two Word incident but also the other state TV incident where an editor strode – with a protest sign – behind a presenter broadcasting live.

Yep, agreed. He’s lost it already.

I think someone described ’90s Russia as having too much freedom but also too much chaos; after Putin, less freedom but more stability (despite the 2nd Chechen War, the Georgian War, the Syrian War o_o).

And now the Ukrainian ‘Special Military Operation’. :-|

    Yeah, he’s effed.

For instance. as EU’s most reliant country on Russian gas, I believe Germany is in the middle of building a pair of additional coastal LNG import terminals for its regasification.

But EU Commission President Von der Leyen admitted it would still need another 5 years to wean the EU off Russian gas. :-/

So the EU is basically funding Ukraine AND Russia in this war. :-|

Well, they were “Spanish” until the late 16th century. :-/

Over the past 3 weeks I’ve been watching a few Russian vox pop Youtube channels that ask random people in the streets of major Russian cities questions. Checking a few channels’ histories the past year I saw many interviews were tongue in cheek but also included some subjects like attitudes towards LGBTQ+ etc.But you should watch the last weeks’ stuff, since the new even more draconian “Fake News” law. They literally cannot say it is a war, it is a “Special Operation”.

Russians in these interviews visibly struggle to say what they mean but somehow convey what they feel. Sure, there are a couple of old fooled farts regurgitating the Russian state’s propaganda. but hey, let’s look at people closer to home like the MAGA crowd, Brexiteers, anti-vaxxers etc, and we can see how easily fools are bamboozled. At least the Russians have the excuse that Putin is clamping down on any independent media and the majority have no recourse but for Russian state TV or newspapers.

In Russian protests the last couple of days, a Russian lady was dragged away because she was holding up a …blank piece of paper.

Another was dragged within a split second after she held up an A5 sized sheet to a cameraman. It literally said, “Two Words” in Russian (apparently in Russian, “Stop The War” can be said in 2 words).
