I started collecting them in the late 70’s when I was TDY to Beale AFB… my first was a SR-71 coffee cup. Between military and civilian acquisitions over the decades I’ve lost count of how many I have. The display problem became such an issue that I started in on shot glasses a few years back to save space 8^)

Well… if they’re going to outlaw “obscene” material then that means no bibles for them. There isn’t anything more obscene, lewd, lascivious, indecent, filthy or vile.

I was on active duty during raygun’s and the shrub’s reigns of stupidity and frequently said the same thing… never in my wildest nightmares did I think it could get much worse… then a repug said hold my beer and we ended up with cadet bone spurs 8^(

When I was still on active I came to believe that they all should be making E-5 wages (at most) during their tenure and nothing after they leave. Any medical they receive should be provided by the VA both during and after their tenure (with no special favors for their position, they should have to work with the same pain the rest of us do).

Finest kind Clay…. thanks for all you do every day!

So it’s either a different time and changed requirements …or… he was in one or more compartments that required it and I wasn’t. I’m always learning neat new (to me anyway) stuff in the comments section.

You’re probably talking about needing a SCIF. They are pretty much required for TS-SCI stuff and also used for a lot, if not all, TS stuff.

But then you never know for sure. My last job in the service just required Secret access, so a SCIF was not needed. But almost every office space in the building we were in were built as SCIFs. So despite not needing one for the work I did there, I still worked in a SCIF.

The only downside for me was I carried a pager as a search and rescue volunteer and, naturally, it didn’t work in the office. I could only get pages when I went out for lunch or to use the facilities.

Anyone can build a SCIF and there are a ton of them in civilian office buildings everywhere, as well as the expected governmental spaces.

Must be a recent change… I held a TS – SCI clearance, both on active duty and as a civilian contractor (after retiring from service), and have never taken a polygraph test.

Either that or you are misinformed as to the breadth of folks having to do that. Perhaps it is only applied to certain compartments with a SCI clearance.

It most certainly isn’t a requirement for TS (or below) clearances.

Yup, thank Zeus I had the chance as a teen to learn how to write like that on the back side of a glass panel. It was used to keep track of search and rescue activity and we would update it from behind so the planners could work with the data from the front.

They do seem to think that way don’t they. As a Colorado resident I’m allowed to vote in one of the primaries… should I choose too. But in many (or is that most) states I’m not allowed to vote in the primaries because I’m not a member of any party and never have been, hence independent.

What I am is rational and can actually think for myself (unlike most of the, so called, conservative bunch) so I tend to look like “a hard line Democrat” to the far right nut jobs.

Actually, I do recall one instance, before I caught on to the insanity coming from the right, where I went thru the list of presidential candidates and voted for some woman at the end of the list… she was the least offensive and most presidential of the lot that year (ever so many years ago). More recently, I was even willing to give some consideration to McCain, he almost seemed rational until he picked Palin as his running mate and that put an end to that.

I’d sure like to be able to vote for someone other else without having to worry about having some draft dodging seditionist lying traitor getting the nod because of my one vote for a third party candidate. It just isn’t worth taking that chance.
