Reusing cloth tote bags has been shown over and over again to be degusting. They accumulate crud and bacteria and should NEVER be used to carry fresh foods. And any canned or packaged foods should be wiped down before they are put away.
People like you slay me. If we use wood you complain, if we develop a process that doesn’t use wood, you complain. Just like we were forced off of paper bags for groceries in the 60s and made to use plastic which is so much worse. You really need to think about what you are for (assuming you don’t prefer we go back to pre-human times) and stick with it.
