How your two-party system works. Republicans float a wildly radical, over-the-top proposal. (Man 1: It worked for Japan and it'll work for us: nuking every U.S. city will create jobs!) Democrats respond with a watered-down version of the Republican plan. (Man 2: Though we oppose mass city-nuking, we'll go along with nuking 70% of U.S. cities.) Liberal voters, disguised by the democratic sellout, vow not to vote. (Man 3: What's the point? They're the same!) The media, trolling for news, pushes for a compromise. (Woman: Why not split the difference?) (Man 4: That seems fair.) Democrats brag that they've denied a victory to the G.O.P. (Man 2: Rather than mourn those who were vaporized, let's celebrate the fact that we saved St. Paul!) Republicans, complaining that they didn't get everything they wanted, blame dems when disaster strikes. (Man 1: What do you expect? We should've nuked 'em all!)
