Man 1: I found this in a nold box. What is it? Man 2: Oh, wow.. They called this a "political cartoon." Political Cartoonists insulted government officials and pointed out the stupidity of the rich and powerful. They were rude, unfair, coarse- often tasteless but they called attention to issues the authorities tried to ignore. And they made people think. Man 1: Were they popular? Man 2: Wildly! People loved graphic content! But newspapers didn't want to pay for it. Man 1: "Newspapers"? What were they?
