Oh, frabjous day, my friends and fellow orbsters. Paul is finally home from the hospital. Radiation treatment can be given here in Barrie, so he has agreed to go through with it. His treatments start next Tuesday. We both hope that the treatments will be successful and will buy him another year or so. His body is too fragile right now to try chemo. We are getting wonderful support from a community health service. I came home with two boxes of supplies and a pole to hang his feeding bag (really, I told the hospital that I could have MacGyvered something with a clothes hanger and the curtain rods!). I am going to be trained on how to prepare his feeding bags; a nurse will visit once a week to monitor Paul’s weight and overall health, the doctor said she will make house calls if Paul doesn’t feel up to travelling, and he will get visits from a PSW twice weekly to help with bathing, shaving, etc…, and give me a much-needed insanity break.
