Voice from television: John Y. Brown, III. He gets down to business. Paid for by citizens for Phyllis George's husband. Brown: And I want to thank the people of Kentucky, and of course, my little gal, Phyllis George without whom my candidacy would have been unthinkable! Voice: Mr. Brown, will you now be taking further steps to dispel your image as an ambitious amateur with only a dim understanding of public affairs? Brown: I don't understand the question. Voice: Well, for example, sir, many people remember when you were asked about affirmative action and you replied "What's affirmative action?" Brown: Well, that was early in my campaign. I was still finding my political legs. I know very well what it is now! Voice: And what's that sir? Brown: Affirmative action? Voice: Yes, sir. Brown: Uh... it's a race horse, right? Voice: Close. How about equal opportunity?
