I wonder how many readers nowadays know the show enough to get that reference? I grew up watching it in syndication during the 1970’s. I was too young to remember its original run in prime time during the 1960’s. (I was born in 1965.) As an animated prime time series with a lot of humor aimed at adults, it had a very successful run, and laid the ground work for “The Simpsons”. It’s surprising it took all the way into the 1980’s before “The Simpsons” took off, after the success of “The Flintstones”.
