Basil's sadness at the thought of returning to his ordinary life is jolted when he meets Louise, who thinks her life in the magnificent cloud city of Helios is ordinary. "I wish I could go with you," Louise says in the universal sing-song feminine manner that has been known to paralyze the will of even the strongest of men. But Basil remains speechless as a man zips by the window in a helium suit. Mistaking Basil's stunned silence as resistance, Louise sweetens the pot. "I'll let you take a ride on Beatrice if you let me go back with you!" "Ummm....," Basil stammered, "who...what...is Beatrice?" "My pteranodon, of course," Louise replied in a slightly surprised tone, as though everyone has a pet flying dinosaur. Heaving a sigh, Basil mutters to himself, "She thinks her life is ordinary?" "Well...," Basil consoled himself, steeling his nerves as they took flight, "she's done this all her life..." "...so what's the worst that can happen?" Unfortunately, that question was going to be answ
