The instruction booklet in the box with your new electronic toy, digital camera, or whatever, willgive a good idea of the sort of results you will probably get on the first pass. It’s a starting point, but that’s all. That said, it IS better than it was a decade ago. Caveat: it is still no goodwith idiomatic expressions - it may give you a literal translation which will be totally incomprehensible to a native speaker. E.g., kick the bucket, queer as a three-shilliing note, gone west, bought the farm &c&c&c
