Reports of prolonged Republican gloating continue months after the election. (Woman: My republican friend calls me in the middle of the night to razz me about "commie kerry" losing. It's getting a little annoying.) Experts differ on why G.O.P. voters enjoy gloating so much. (Man: It's because they're jerks.) (Woman 2: They see politics as a sport. When their team wins, lording it over the other side is the greatest spoil of all!) Interestingly, this round of gloating is really a continuation of an older, ongoing gloatathon. (Man 2: When Republicans cry "in your face, losers!" They're bragging about Rutherford B. Hayes 1876 victory over Samuel Tilden. That, and the 1918 congressional elections.) Democrats, meanwhile, are starting some retaliatory gloating of their own. (Man 3: Dude, you are so going to be living in a country that's broke and hated and permanently at war. As will I, let me try that again.
