Edda sits up in her bed and appears anxious. She thinks: "When I was little and woke from a bad dream, all I did was call out, and in an instant mom appeared at my side... ...with safety and reassurance and sweet serenity." Edda yells: "MOM!" A disheveled Juliette sits at Edda's bedside. Edda holds onto her pillow and thinks: "Of course, not every childhood memory stands the test of time."
