after the terminal city police gave up the search for the phantom ape, a photographer's camera revealed alley oop perched in a tree...but on their return, he had vanished. hi, pat! I see by the papers the ape paid us a visit this morning and made monkeys out of a lot of you cops! Yeah, but if he shows his ugly mug on my beat, it'll be a water-front copper that'll be doin' the monkey makin! man: extra paper!! read all about it! photographer snaps picture of phantom ape! man: hey, bill, git one of those papers afore we hove off! here, boy! man: sure, it's no ape that critter looks like t'me! hmm! tis more of a banshee it is, I'm thinking! man: i hope the ape gits that sailor! he gave me a lead nickel!
