Auburn University was on a quarter system when I attended in the 70s. When I started, I think tuition was about $140 per quarter. When I drew this comic strip, I did a little research and came up with a reasonable sum for a semester in a state university, since most schools had semesters. (Auburn does now.) I did, by the way, augment my income by working in the art department of Johnston & Malone Bookstore.
