As a follow-up to yesterday’s comments. I live in Japan and often see people eat green tea ice cream, and I fact, eat it myself. I think it is delicious. However, it is flavoured with a rather bitter green tea powder, not tea leaves.I would say the reason many Americans don’t enjoy tea is that they don’t know how to make it. When I lived in the U.S. I was usually served a tea bag and a cup of lukewarm water in restaurants. Of course the tea had no flavour. Even a tea bag can result in a decent cup of tea if you put the bag in the cup or pot first, add boiling water, and preferably cover the cup for a few minutes.Green tea, on the other hand, should not be made with boiling water. After boiling, the water should be allowed to cool a little so as not to destroy the more delicate flavour..I shall now climb down from my soap box.
