In a family where my mom and my sister were just as myopic as her, I used to have extremely good eyesight and played with the doctor when he asked me to read the small line of the board. I went straight for ‘made in…’ to confuse him. Then I grew up and discovered the joy of myopia, and that I had astygmatia (which explained my depth problems in sport). And that my eyes were too dry for contacts. I am wearing glasses all the time now, to my great dispair, but I am still so glad I am not nearly blind when I take them off.
