He may be a writer, but he’s not a pro. Yet. Pros don’t give a hoot about the page count because it’s so easy to change it. (Margins, font, single or double spacing and so on.) What really matters to the writer is the word count, because that, and only that is what the publishers are interested in. (Well, they’re interested in the quality too, but I think you know what I mean.)
