In the 1950 on a trip through southern Idaho into Utah on a two lane highway with about a 50 MPH limit.
My mother sees a sign on a fence post off in the distance and cries, “There’s a sign! There’s a sign! Slow down so we can read it.”
We get up to the sign.
It says, “Monotonous, ain’t it?”
True story, honest to God.
