Granddad: Now where is that boy? Driveway should have been cleared an hour ago, and I don't even see him out there... I just don't know about these kids nowadays. No respect...no discipline...no work ethic... It must be that rap music 'cause I sure wasn't like this when I was young... when ya elders told you to shovel some snow, you shoveled some snow! But that shiftless grandson of mine couldn't do that one simple task... and why? "Cause he lazy!!"
I lived in an apartment building where I had a neighbor who would send his little boy, no more than 5YO, to throw out the trash. This dope seemed completely clueless to the fact that the kid was too small for the task, since he couldn’t reach the top of the dumpster or open the lid or bring the trash bag up to dump it. Someone would usually come along to help him with it. I’m positive dopey dad never once bothered to actually see if the kid could do it by himself.
I’m not saying Robert is just as clueless here, but apparently he’s unaware of how big a task this is for Riley.
