Strikes me more as an operating arena, or at least an operating stadium. Reminds me of the bit in the old TV show “House Calls” where the ER staff puts on a wild farce just to prove that the suit running the hospital didn’t know a thing about medicine. My favorite part was where one of the staff performed a “transfusion” by pouring a red liquid from a huge jug into the “patient” singing half under his breath, “Ev’rybody’s got a hungry heart!…”
