Aha… someplace I lived when I was growing up…for military brats, it’s hard to remember where you picked up which slang, but I’m thinking probably Madison, Wisconsin, where I went to high school….a long rectangular doughnut was called a “float.”
It was late enough in my upbringing that, as an adult, I still called it a float… until I realised nobody knew what I meant.
Other places it was called a longjohn… here in California it’s a bar.
But maybe Dan is from Wisconsin…
