Well—-she climbed up the ladder in CA on the arm of a married man, and then withdrew from the primaries before single vote was cast. She got the VP spot because of demographics, which is no different than Kennedy putting Johnson on the ticket because he needed the South, as did just about every other Presidential candidate.
