It’s called United Nations and not United Democracies for a reason. Some major countries are not democracies, okay but they still have major impacts on the World.
That division between democracies we can negotiate with and undemocratic (“barbaric”) nations reminds me of the distinction between “civilized” countries (mostly christian europeans) and “uncivilized” (India, China, Africa) ones bound to be “improved” through colonization by Europe in the XIXth century.
