I’d like to weigh in briefly regarding TV shows: first, there are so many reality shows because they’re incredibly cheap to produce, as, I’m sure, you all know. Of course, it still amazes me that anyone of any intelligence watches those shows. Secondly, I’d like to nominate a great show that I was never interested in when it was on Prime Time: Dharma and Greg. It is hilarious. My husband and I got hooked on it a few yrs. back when it started syndication. We now have the first few seasons on DVD and watch it periodically. I also just discovered that the TV Guide channel is showing reruns from 7pm-8pm (ET). Give it a try. It’s a great example also of a show that got better and better over time. And, third: I’ve enjoyed all the shows that you all have mentioned. My gosh, I haven’t thought of Barney Miller in years, and yet, I was a faithful viewer when it was on Prime Time. But, I’d have to say that Dharma and Greg is my favorite “old” show, and The Big Bang Theory takes the prize of shows that are on now. Well, I went on longer than I planned, so I’ll stop now.
@ cleokaya It is difficult to be spontaneous or to plan vacations when you have pets (or children). We are fortunate to have a friend come over and dog-sit (and house-sit) while we go on vacation. It’s a vacation for her (she’s originally from town, but now lives up in a hill town with no TV service) and we pay her what we would have paid a kennel. It works out for all of us, and Max gets to stay in his own house. I’m thankful that we have her and realize that not everybody has this option. Hope you can figure it out so that you end up getting a dog. I cannot imagine you without one!!!
