Tippit: Edith, would you mind if someone joined us for thanksgiving? Edith: Dad--you didn't invite Georgie Wells to our thanksgiving dinner...? You've been seeing her a lot lately and I haven't complained. But can't we save the special holidays for just you and me. You know, how you cook a little turkey, and while you carve it, you tell that cute story of your and mom's first thanksgiving dinner together-- Tippit: Not Georgie. I invited Coach Neely. Edith: Oh, heck yeah. The more the merrier.
The reason Edith resents Georgie is because she takes her father away from him and feeling that she will try to steal her mother’s special place in their hearts. Either that, or she’s afraid of Georgie bright turn out to be an abusive stepmother and wife.
