Alice: Petey! Dad says he'll take us to that superhero movie! Petey: Ugh. No thanks. Alice: But it's from a comic book! Petey: Any translation of a comic book to film is a betrayal of the original's graphic nature. Petey: Film is a passive medium. The story unfolds at a predetermined pace. The comic book is an active medium. Petey: You choose the pace at which you eye scans the page, pausing to admire a particularly fine panel, a well-chosen onomatopoeia, an intriguing whoopee cushion ad- Alice: What I don't get in movies is when the actors get too close to each other and their eyeballs flicker back and forth while they're talking like this- Petey: QUIT! Alice: You'd think they'd get dizzy and throw up. Petey:Like I've been reading this page for three weeks and I'm only half done!
